Quantcast
Riders Of The Storm

Okay, so this one was up… hellishly late, especially with the two missing comics earlier this week, so I’ll answer that one first: Why was the comic so late?

It’s very cold right now, and the basement has little heat. When I’m freezing, it’s hard to get up the motivation to work on the comic, especially because when my hands are cold, it’s actually pretty hard to draw. I’m sure most of you people that are artists will understand that one. Is it going to be that while it’s winter? no, of course not. It’s just that this week was particularly bad about the whole windchill thing. So! That was the long way of saying “Hey! I’m freezing my jigglies off here!”

[There used to be a message here about the comic going on Hiatus, and telling people to leave a message if they wanted to be notified... but the hiatus is over, so BLAHHH!!! Just ignore the comments down below if you weren't around during the Great Comic Famine of 2010. -9.]

Well I’d like to get notified.
Regarding the readers issue, i don’t think it’ll help bring much audience, because first thing people see when they visit this site is your current art, which is pretty sleek right now, when they start checking out first strips almost all of them think something along the line of “oh well okay, this were his first steps so I’ll cut him some slack” and quickly skip trough the bigging to catch up to current story. Well that was something i thought and did, xept for skip though part – i read them all.

I think what you need is a better site design and some major ad campaign on some more popular fantasy/fighting comic than yours.

I really wish I could get a better site design… but I’m limited by what wordpress and comicpress can do. What I do intend on doing though is changing the backgrounds and fonts for the site, and maybe adding a few little special touches here or there. It won’t be much, but it will be a little more consistent, which I think is one of the things that really dragging down the site design right now: too friggin jalopy.

There’s a flaw in your idea. Not all webcomic artists have enough money to maintain their own site by themselves, or lack the ability to fancify the hell out of it. 9 is piggybacking off of Wordpress, which is limited in what you can really do with the site. To have complete control over the look and feel, he’d have to dish out far more money and time to maintain the site. Doing it alone, he’d be constantly busy drawing and maintaining, could easily distract from his comic making, or just be troublesome overall. So if you wish for the site to look better, either help him yourself or find someone else to help him. If you haven’t noticed, he’s kinda in a tight spot. :)

I made the layout and graphics for my site, and Joenis from abluecomic.com linked them up for me, he’s an awesome guy, and knows comicpress very well. I know you made mention of being in a financial tight spot but I’m sure you guys coould work something out when you are in a better spot. I’ve been reading this for a while off and on, and I like the direction you are heading in.

Please notify me, too. Thank you.

But seriously, I think JAK2 is right. As I started reading, Pretty much the same – saw awesome art, went back to first page, “Oh well art gets better after some time”, read it all. But the idea itself is not bad. 2 Months is not too much, and it also gives you a break from the current plot, so you may get new ideas etc. Maybe. Never did a webcomic, because I can’t draw, so not sure about it.

Hey, if you decide to actually change the beginning strips, can you keep the old stuff somewhere on the site, I like to see natural art progression and the storyline you currently use is what got me hooked on this site originally. I would appreciate a notification as well. Good luck!

I’d like to be notified (even though I still come by the site everyday) and if you need any help with anything just let me know. I don’t have any money to give (jobless) but for anything else I have plenty of time (see: jobless) to help.

  6. The Tree of Doom

I’d like to be notified :) Good luck with everything!

  7. jay

I would like to get notified as well. This is one of the more interesting comics i read online, and I can’t wait to see the beginning re done. I mean I love how you have it now, but the beginning doesn’t seem to fit completely with where it seems you are planning to take the comic, so I think its good that you are restructuring your stories
