As usual, I just can't leave this place well enough alone. Changed the theme again. Just got bored with the last one. Dunno if the comic viewer will still work.
Also, took out the forums. Yay or nay... I dunno. Either way, spam botting was getting horrible, so I figured I should finally do something about it.
Right, so, Android... right. Uh... Yeah.
The last few months have been rather annoying on that front. My phone, a Motorola Cliq Titanium, had gotten possessed by The Devil. And by that, I mean that it had suddenly decided it was going to start freaking the hell out and randomly activate touches all over the screen.
It made testing programs a pain in the ass.
It also made dialing the phone, answering the phone, and everything else a pain as well.
So, I've mostly just been doing the whole "Game Design ...in theory" thing. I've been working on getting game frameworks and stuff laid out
...in theory.
So yeah... nothing is actually done.
But, I just got a new phone a week ago or so. This time, it's a spiffy new LG G2x. Yay. So, I'm rocking Android... 2.3.3 (God, I can't believe I had to just look that up) instead of the Cliq's asinine 1.5 BS.
Although, while trying to exorcise The Devil from the Cliq, I did kinda install 2.1 as one of my last ditch efforts.
So the Cliq has 2.1 now. ...Still possessed, but hey, it looks better while its flipping shit, at least.
Comic Related News
So, there's been virtually nothing about the comic lately. Reason for that is: I still don't really have a way of drawing the comic. I was planning on just trudging through the piss-poor slowness of the laptop to get the rest of Issue 4 done, then tossing it up here, but the Fates have conspired against me.
I am however working on a java comicy viewer for the site, with some chat stuff. No guarantees, but so far it's looking kinda cool. If I can manage to get it up, there should be some happiness around here for once.
No ETA for the comic, or the new comic viewer, though. The comic stuff has to be packed around the stuff that has a slightly better payoff. Yeah, I know, it sucks.

Has anyone noticed that on the VEVO version of Eminem's Beautiful, the lyric captions censor the word "shoes"? No? ...Didn't think so. It was rather specific wasn't it? Oh well.
Site Changes
Again...
Since I'm doing more Java stuff now, the site will be getting changed around some more over the following weeks or so as I try to gear the site more towards application development, stupid Java programs, and getting a "real job" to make enough money to live on. Major changes:
Spookle is getting taken down.
The forums are getting wiped, and integrated with the main site. (I haven't been able to find a way to import the forums to WordPress, and currently it's beyond my skill in PHP to do. I will however back them up, so hopefully I can import them at a later date, along with the vintage sediverse 1.5 forums.)
The Comics are going down as well, although they'll be put on the side bar as downloadable PDFs.
I won't be using ComicPress anymore.
The Links to the stores will be cut, and the merchandise no longer updated or supported. (So if you do a google search, you'll be able to find the old crap that wasn't worth buying, but I'm not going to pitch it or hope for sales.)
Why? Well, I don't really have any equipment to actually work on the comic, so continuing this site as a webcomic site is... rather silly, honestly. I will still work on the comic when I have spare time and motivation, but really, SED is becoming more and more of a doodle sort of comic. As I make more issues though, I'll add those to the side bar for download.
SED will probably end up as a cartoon on youtube, though, so at least there's that.
Still, SED is pretty much dead at this point, since I don't really have any way of keeping it going. Major thanks and props to everyone who helped me keep this thing going for as long as it has. Hopefully we can get everything back up to the point where the comic will be a regular project again. Cheers!
(P.S. - For those who didn't know (or didn't follow the news posts I left with a lot of the comics) The laptop I used for drawing broke down, then I decided to learn Java, then I had to sell my car to pay bills, then my phone stopped working, then my desktop broke down so I had to build a new computer with the broken parts from my next door neighbor, then the new computer broke down, and i had to borrow money from family to fix it... and my rent just went up (again.) So, all in all, point is: I've had a pretty crappy year, financially speaking, and that's why I haven't been able to draw the comic. On the bright side though, I did manage to go to the doctor in September or whatever, and now I do actually have medication for the migraines that were leaving me out of commission for weeks at a time.)
The Term “Classic video games”
What makes a video game classic? Is it the year they were made? The childhood memories they brought upon Kids? These question are useless. I am going to tell you why ,any of you born before the 1990's believe back then the games were the shit. For those of you who weren't born before the 1990's and are disappointed about no having those awesome games when you were kids, don't be.
Only the good ones are still remembered:
That's right when you think games from earlier on you think Super mario brothers, Contra, Megaman 2, Etc. But remember not all those games we good. In fact a good sum of those were shitty. Anyone remember super marios two? the one where you would get to the end and find out it was all a dream? Did that piss you off as much as me? Am I over using question marks? I think I've made my point.
In 10 years what will be "classic": That's to say if the earth is still around by then. What games would you tell your children about? Maybe games like Halo and Call of duty will be done with production and Activision will call it quits. You sit there complaining about how video games aren't what they used to be. But you have to take account that they just got better, but you and your stubborn generation can't admit that, isn't that right gramps?
Modern people think classic means super old!: We all must admit that the word classic can mean many things but people still have the assumption that it's just age that makes something classic "these fossils are a classic!" (well, they don't say that but you get the point.) All I'm saying here is that a classic is something from before that was deemed popular at the time and has continued to receive some sort of popularity. Fun fact: By 2030 pacman will be gone. The only reason pacman is still praised is because those who played it still live. By 2030 that generation will be gone, leaving halo fans and World of Warcraft nerds alike left to call something classic.

Of Permalinks and Apartments
I just finished changing a bit around for the site: There's a new permalink structure, since I finally got around to making the header play nice with it. Also, there's a new cache system, which should speed up the site loading a bit, even though it might slow down the updating by a minute or two.
Translation: Faster loading. New comics will be a minute late (assuming they're on time to begin with. Ha.)

Eh... right now the header's kinda frelled, but... bleh. I've already been working on it for the last 5 hours, so bah humbug. I'll fix the contrast and tranlucency problems when I get back up.
You'll also notice that the normal "menu" is gone. Yeah... no sense in having it while the new header does the same thing. Oh, but you liked the navigation buttons on it?? ...Bleh. I do have keyboard navigation for the comic on this site, you know. And there's still the links under the comic, too. Might have to look for them though, since the text is black right now.

Weekly Dump
Okay, so, just a bit of site news first: I finally got the keyboard navigation working on the site. Wasn't that hard, I just kept forgetting to do it. So, now you can navigate the comic with the left and right arrows on your keyboard, as well as shift clicking left or right to get to the first comic or the last comic, respectively.
Next up, there was this study done about slowing down the obesity epidemic in America. What was their solution? Subsidize starvation. I shit you not.
...Okay,... so what they were really saying is that by making junk food more expensive, less people will buy it, so therefore, it must be helping them to make healthy food choices!! Yay!! Well, no. The entire study was this giant, epic fail, a full hellameter across. First off, their sampling was women only. Yes, women only. So, even if their findings weren't bubkis, it would only apply to women. Sorry guys, but having a test group of only one distinction is FAIL. Second, there wasn't a control group. Third, everybody was given about 20.00 to feed each member of their family for a week. When junk food prices went up, the number of calories in their selections went down... but, would they have been able to feed the family for the week?
Basically, it comes down to this: Make the food more expensive, and yes, people will consume less. Duh. The problem isn't how much people are consuming, it's what, and honestly here's the shitty truth:
1. Until carrots start tasting like doritos, people are going to buy the doritos.
2. A large part of the incentive of junk food is that it's cheaper than "real food".
3. Making junk food more expensive just means people will have less ways to actually stretch their money.
4. That means you're encouraging poor people to starve, unless you find a way to make the healthy food as cheap as the junk food used to be. You can't remove the cheap options without basically giving 70% of the country the finger.
5. The other big part of junk food's hold on the country is time. It's convenient and quick.
6. I dunno about you, but I really don't have an extra 4-5 hours a day to dedicate to cleaning, preparing, and cooking food, and then cleaning dishes.
7. The time argument can be fixed though, as long as we can get a bill passed that says that all women must be housewives, like it was in the 30's before all the junk food.
8. Oh wait, that's right. That's WHY junk food was made. Go figure.
